Sky-Watcher BK1145EQ1 Telescope
The Sky-Watcher BK1145EQ1 Newtonian reflector telescope offers an exceptional combination of value, portability, and extensive features. Available at SkyHunters, this model is the perfect entry point into the world of amateur astronomy, frequently chosen as the first family telescope. Its short focal length provides a wide field of view, which is a crucial advantage for beginners, making it easy to point at objects and track them across the sky.
Key advantages
- Superior Light Gathering: The 114mm primary mirror collects approximately 190x more light than the human eye.
- Wide Field of View: Short 500mm focal length makes locating and tracking celestial objects effortless.
- Astronomical Precision: EQ1 Equatorial mount equipped with slow-motion controls for smooth tracking.
- Versatile Observations: Excellent for deep-sky nebulae, planets, and lunar surface details.
- Expandable System: The mount is compatible with optional motor drives for automated tracking.
Product description
The Sky-Watcher BK1145EQ1 is a Newtonian reflector system that excels in brightness and versatility. Due to its high focal ratio (f/4.4), we especially recommend this telescope for observing nebulous objects. However, it also performs remarkably well when observing planetary details and lunar craters. The core strength of this instrument is its large 114mm mirror, which determines the depth and clarity of everything you observe.
This telescope provides the ability to observe objects up to nearly 12.9 stellar magnitude (compared to magnitude 6 visible to the naked eye). The mirror size also relates to the optical resolution, which in this model allows for the separation of stars distant from each other by more than 1.2 arcseconds. With a tube length of only 410mm, it remains highly portable for field trips.
The EQ1 equatorial mount allows for precise orientation based on sky maps or atlases, providing smooth movement along the Right Ascension and Declination axes. When properly aligned with the Celestial North Pole, the telescope becomes very simple to operate. The 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser is standard, allowing for a wide range of eyepiece upgrades. SkyHunters includes three eyepieces in the set (20mm, 12.5mm, and 4mm), providing magnifications of 25x, 40x, and 125x respectively.
