This darkfield condenser has a 1.36–1.25 N.A. It is intended for obtaining a contrast image of unstained transparent samples, which cannot be seen with the brightfield microscopy technique. It is used with objectives with magnifications over 20x, including oil-immersion objectives.

The immersion oil should be used for both dry and oil objectives; otherwise, the light will not reach the sample. The MAGUS DF2 A condenser is mounted on the microscope instead of the Abbe condenser and centered with two screws. The image will be as contrasty as possible if the cover glass is 0.17mm thick and the glass slide is 1–1.2mm thick.
